“新学期，新起点，新希望”，我校初中高端英语项目组经过一个暑假的精心准备，以全新的姿态迎接新学期的到来。学生在英语特色课程上表现积极、收获颇丰。现在就让我们来回顾下开学前的精彩工作吧！

在开学初，项目组以“扬帆起航 助力成长” 和“上好开学第一课”为主题，进行了一系列的教学培训和研讨。研讨以激发学生的学习兴趣为宗旨，明确中外教师在教学过程中的教学规范及具体要求。周计划中细致到每一周具体的操作层面，以保证今后教学有条不紊。全体中外教师们精神抖擞地迎接新学期的到来。

8月30日，我校全体初中高端英语项目在209会议室召开了2019-2020学年第一学期中外籍教师联合培训会议。我校党总支书记张继军出席了会议并向新加入的中外籍教师们介绍了初中高端英语项目的设计理念、使命、愿景和目标，并对老师们提出了殷切希望。

就高端英语项目本学期的安排、教学要求、学生活动和学生测评方式等情况，初中教务处副主任张丽君向中外籍教师们进行详细讲解，并规范了外籍教师工作要求，即备好每一节课，上好每一节课，认真对待每一次作业批改、写作提升和阶段性测试，精心准备每一次课内和课外活动。期望学生能通过外籍教师课爱上英语学习，学习国际文化，扩大国际视野。为学生以后进入国际高中或出国学习打下坚实的基础。

8月31日，上午经过2个小时的热烈讨论，初中高端英语项目全体外籍教师统一确认了本学期第一课的目标、内容、活动和形式及本学期的重点目标实施细节：在新学期国际项目外教课将进一步注重学生的词汇拓展、知识拓展；进一步重视学生的展示能力，做好Monthly Presentation Test，升级国际项目外教课的过程性评价和终结性评性方式和标准；希望同学们充分利用国际外教课程学习提升自己的英语阅读、学术写作、展示及交际运用能力。随后6名外籍教师逐一展示了自己精心准备的第一次课堂内容，并对照课堂评价表进行了互评。持续一天的workshop让所有参会的中外籍教师都收获满满。中外籍教师们纷纷表示，本次开学前培训让自己对接下来的工作充满的信心和希望。在接下来的工作中他们将积极贡献自己的智慧，关注每一个学生，和孩子们一起成长。

This first meeting of the Chinese English teachers and foreign teachers in our middle school campus gets started in a cheerful atmosphere. The whole meeting almost involves all aspects of instructions and points for attention in our future teaching and the cooperation of Chinese and foreign teachers. This is a very good start. This kind of workshop will be on regularly. I am greatly encouraged from it. Also, the high spirits of each member at the meeting give me huge confidence. Yes, we are definitely an energetic team with great perseverance prepared to rise to the occasion and meet any challenges in the coming school year. In order to help the students to achieve a better self, we are always on the way to make their outlook brighter!

It is really a great honor for me to take part in the meeting this morning. And it is the first time that I have the chance to cooperate with foreign colleagues. In order not to miss any details and work with them smoothly, I listened attentively during the whole meeting. Cora mainly told us the time arrangement of our weekly activities and requirements of our following work. Cora designed a game to help the foreign teachers to know we Chinese teachers quickly. It is really a good idea as Cora’s design made us familiar with each other in an efficient and interesting way. Beside the considerate design, the whole meeting went on in an orderly and professional way. Our principal Virginia also spared some time to attend the meeting though she has much work to do. From the thoughtful arrangement of the meeting as well as the attendance of school senior leader, we can see that our school leaders attached great importance to the international teaching programs. Therefore, we teachers should not live up to their expectations and try our best to offer wonderful learning experience to our students. As the saying goes, well begun is half done. The first meeting gave us concrete guidance to our subsequent teaching. I believe we can perform our duty better in such a professional and excellent team.

Today is August 30th. It is a special and memorable day because, as a new teacher, it is the first time for me to attend a meeting with both foreign teachers and Chinese teachers at the same table.

At the meeting, all the teachers speak English. That makes me pretty nervous. However, I also feel the eager to have such meetings as much as possible. In the beginning, there is an introduction of ourselves. All the teachers express our happiness and honor to get together, which makes me feel at home again. The main part of this meeting is the schedule and regulation of this semester's work. The director gives us a concrete presentation in her remarkable English. I know this is the idol for me right now. In her speech, she emphasizes the cooperation of foreign teachers and Chinese teachers to help the students make progress. While she is presenting the teaching plans, I feel it's an amazing program. The students not only learn the basic knowledge of English, they are experiencing a kind of life in English. There are lots of new forms of teaching. Indeed, as a new teacher, I need to learn a lot. I make up my mind to enhance my knowledge and learn teaching skills from experienced teachers.

I really enjoy my foreign teacher's class. They are so fun and they present a new culture and a new colorful world to us. I am trying my best to communicate with them and express myself. I hope in the near future I could be an international citizen and introduce Chinese culture to people around.

@Class 10 Grade 9 Maria：

At the beginning of September, everything is new. In the unfamiliar environment and classroom, the teaching of Emily and Blake undoubtedly promotes the communication and cooperation between us. Games and activities were organized to make everyone familiar with each other. We all enjoy every moment in the class of Emily and Blake，and we are full of enthusiasm to gain knowledge about IELTS.

@ Class 10 Grade 9 Hogan：

With the arrival of the new semester, I came to a new class, class10. Now I am looking forward to going to school everyday, because both of my foreign teachers are brilliant.

Mr.Blake teaches us science, math and life skills. He is from New Zealand, and I like his accent very much. I think we have a lot in common—we both like sports, we are both fan of Taylor Swift. He is conscientious and always carefully gets prepared for class.

Ms. Emily teaches us writing and oral class. It is always interesting to be in her class. She is the most enthusiastic teacher I have ever met. And the one thing I like the most about Ms. Emily is that she smiles a lot. When she smiles to me, that feeling will always warm my heart.

There is a similarity between Mr. Blake and Ms. Emily. They are both super patient. Every time when students were confused, they would explain to them carefully until they can understand.

These days learning in their classes helps me make a great progress.

@ Class 10 Grade 9 Emma：

How many classes do you have for a day? At least nine classes, Right? Which class is the most interesting and relaxing one? For me, it is the foreign language class. Why? Some people may think that the foreign language class is a waste of time and boring. But I have quite different experience. First, the class is really fun with activities and games. Second, the homework is in fact easy to do if we are “wired up” in class. My foreign teacher usually notes down something on my homework as comments, and I can have a sense of achievement. Last, my foreign teacher always pays enough patient to answer our questions. That’s why I cannot wait to have my foreign language class.

@ Class 10 Grade 9 Cindy：

I came to class 10 in this new term. The most special thing is that we have two foreign teachers and eight foreign classes each week. One of the foreign teachers is called Miss Emily, who is interesting and patient. And the other one is Mr. Blake from New Zealand. In the class, Miss Emily always guides us to answer her question critically. And Mr. Blake often teaches us with his patience. I think both of them are wonderful and responsible teachers. I will learn English harder.
