On June 12th, we held a Chinese ancient poem recitation competition in the afternoon.Many classmates celebrated the event by wearingTraditionalChinese Han Clothing. The students and teachers all thought the traditional clothing was a great idea and it really set the mood for the event.
6月12日，初一年级语文学科在中午举行了夏日诗会的活动。同学们都穿着了好看的汉服，扎起了古装的辫子。同学们都十分的兴奋与激动，等待着活动开始。
The host began by informing us that the competition would consist of 3 parts----the first partwasthe summerpoem reading competition, thesecond partwas thepoem recitation competition, and the last partwas a recitation competition game in which all students needed to choose some words and give examples of poems with these words, and those who couldn’t think about any examples failed the game.
主持人登台后，宣布了诗会的主要流程——第一项夏日诗背诵，第二项课内古诗背诵，第三项是飞花令。
The whole event began with a big surprise given by all the Chinese teachers present. Theyallread a wonderful Chinesepoem together tocelebrate the beginning of this contest. Then, all the classes in Grade 7 stood up one by one to readapoem that they had prepared before the event.All the studentsdid their utmost to pay full attention and recite their lines in harmony.
活动正式开始前，老师们给了我们一个惊喜，我们的语文老师纷纷登台。她们都穿着古装汉服，拿着小扇子，为我们朗诵诗歌。
活动的第一项开始了，所有班级将我们精心准备的夏日诗歌朗诵出来，同学们都听得十分专注，到他们表演时，他们也都尽全力读好，为班级争光争彩。
After that, the subject representative from each class chose a poem thathad to be recited. The students hoped they would get an easypoem that wouldn’t be so difficult to recite off hand. The other classes remained quiet and respectful while the show took place and everyone was interested to see how the contestants would perform.
下一项是课内古诗朗诵，我们让语文课代表代表班级抽签选择背诵篇目。同学们都希望抽到简单点的，以便更好的发挥，为班级争得荣誉。
The Last partwas the most excitingevent of all.The Chinese name of the game is called‘Feihualing’. In this game, students must pick 1 word out of 4 words then recite apoem from the wordthat was chosen. Other rival students must take turns to recite poems based on the chosen words. Thestudent whorecites the poem incorrectlyloses the game. The last remaining student is then crowned the winner. At the end of the show, allthe students cheered and clappedtogetherfor their classmates.
最后是最激动人心的环节——飞花令，飞花令是指将4个词中抽取一个，背面带有这个字的古诗，背错或背不出来的一律淘汰。同学们都很紧张，他们鼓励着台上参赛的同学，盼望着能留到最后。
After taking part in the competition today, we came to the realization thatwe need to continue to work hard onChinese and recite morepoems. As the saying goes“Opportunity is for the ready man.” We believe that we willobtain more success in the future if we keep working hard and never give up.We know that our hard work will pay off in the future.
在这短短的一中午中，我们认识到我们需要更努力的学习语文，多多积累，多多阅读。就像谚语所说的“机会是留给有准备的人的”。我相信，如果我们一直坚持不懈的做一件事情，我们一定会成功的。所以我们应永不言弃，奋勇向前，通过奋斗拥有一个美好的未来。
