Review of “The Pursuit of Happiness”
By Zhang Yaxin, from Class 2, Senior 2
“The Pursuit of Happiness” is an American biographical drama film, directed by Gardner Muccino. It is based on the true story of Chris Gardner. The film stars will Smith as Gardner, an on-and-off homeless salesman who turns into stock broker.
The film is mainly about Gardner who never gives up his dream, though, he is in a stressful situation – he has no place to live in, not enough food to eat, not knowing how life will be going on for him and everything seems hopeless and despairing. So tough for him to pull through that I even think more than once that he will give up. Nevertheless, he makes up his mind to fulfill his dream, achieving a more promising career at the end of a six month unpaid training period.
The most attractive plot in the film is how he achieves his dream and his attitude when comes across all the difficulties in life. There are no complains but the optimistic mentality and there are no quarrels with his son but the harmonious conversations between each other. When the film comes to an end, tears stream down my face. The spirit of Gardner touched me a lot and has a great influence on me. There is no very easy approach to success. The key to getting ahead counts on my dedication and persistence. Meanwhile, it depends on an adequate amount of training.
“The Pursuit of Happiness” conveys a message that should be evident to all of us – you shouldn’t give up your dream no matter how hardship it is. Just go for it and eventually you will succeed. The movie speaks to people of all ages ,so I recommend it for the whole class.
