Day 1 (第一天)
Our host family lives in the historical centre of Málaga. We went there by train.
The pavements were paved by marbles, and the most amazing thing was that the roads were cleaned everyday! It felt good walking on those clean and tidy streets.
The Cathedral was spectacular, but there were still some towers that hadn’t been finished yet because the Spanish government had run out of funds due to helping foreign powers. We discovered that different parts of the Cathedral were made out of recycled materials because the Spanish people are so conscious of the environment.
The gardens were traditional Spanish gardens. They were in the very interior of a house. That’s because they only let people in who they trust.
As we walked through the inner garden paths, we came across several people playing instruments like the piano, guitar or other instruments. It was a really enjoyable experience to walk through this place and feel the history of Málaga and its appealing culture.
We also came across pigeons scampering around the ground and flying all over the square. They didn’t seem to be afraid of human beings as they raced side by side with other people. It was an inspiring sight to see animals and humans together living in harmony.
In our house, there were a few flying bugs around the place. My host family told me some things that caught my curiosity. These little bugs usually just fly around and don’t bother humans much. This was a stark contrast for my life in Beijing where I would probably kill any flying bug that came near me!
P.S:
Fortunately, my host family is from the United States, so English was the most convenient language for us to communicate in.
There were two sisters: Ingrid and Natalie. They were nice and talented. The mother was also a very kind person. We enjoyed talking together.
On this sunny morning, I had a nice cup of hot chocolate and pancake with blueberries. They tasted so good with the sunshine and cool morning breeze. The cookies were traditional American’s food, which is also very tasty.
I like their house so much. It has a strong historical feeling to it. I really enjoy living here. I can even hear the Cathedral’s clock striking sounds every half hour.

Day 2 (第二天)
After breakfast, we went to the local market. It was large, not something you see often in the US or in China. There were many varieties of food there. We bought the ingredients for our unusual dinner. Then, the two sisters guided us to the beach. We cycled there! This was my first time to go biking on the streets! It was frightening, especially when we were shuttling back and forth through the busy streets. I almost hit the pedestrians. I could hear passerby’s laugh at me whenever I fell off the Bike. It took us a very long time to get there. I guess my biking technique has now improved a lot.
During our biking journey along the shoreline, the fresh cozy sea winds were touching my face, and the seabirds were singing joyfully. There were palm trees all over the roads that provided us with shade. The sea was so blue and clear, the sky and oceans seemed to connect together. It was really breathtaking sight overlooking the limpid and transparent sea.
I put my feet in to the sand and let the waves wash over my feet. It was so cool. We had a nice picnic with the fruit that we bought at the market that morning.
Then we cycled back. The depressing thing was that Ingrid lost her way to the bakery. I felt so bad because I was very tired biking for so long. My neck and legs really hurt.
Luckily, I made a phone call with Lilu that cheered me up.
After we got home, we started to cook dinner for our host family. We cooked tomato egg with noodle and fried potato. It was the first time I cooked meals by myself. It was fun. Natalie helped us a lot and made a video of our cooking process. Ask me for the video if you want to watch it. The meal tasted really good which was made with our own hands. That was quite meaningful.

Day 3 (第三天)
Yesterday was a light day. We ate breakfast late because there was a military ceremony to celebrate Spain’s independence and democracy. I had bocadillo with Jámon and queso for breakfast.
After that, we went to the Ferris Wheel. As the wheel was getting higher and higher, the scenery became more distinct. When we got to the top, I looked out of the glass. The whole of Málaga’s scenery unfolded before my eyes. How spectacular it was! I saw the harbor with the ocean and boats. They lied quietly between the lucid sky and diamond blue looking sea. Málaga’s major industry is fishery and seafaring.
Then we rode on a horse carriage. The horse was called Guitarra. We looked around and explored the historic buildings.
In the evening, we made them an afternoon tea with the cups I bought from China (that was the gift I gave them). During the tea, we talked about Trump and his awful governing. Furthermore, I taught them some ancient history and contemporary history of China. We also discussed communism in China. They really had some misconceptions about it. I am really into politics and history!!! And we all enjoyed that afternoon tea hour very much!
