In this term’s early spring, the friends from our sister school in France came to school to visit us. When they arrived at our school students greeted them with great enthusiasm.

Now they have studied with us for a few weeks. They have not only made many Chinese friends, but also learned a lot about Chinese students’ school life. And today the English press corps interviewed them on the topic of “ English study in China and France” .

Here are the two interview drafts:

Interview of group 1

Dominic:Well, we are so glad to meet you guys in China and at our school.

Aaron:And it is our honor to have you here. And the topic of today is something about the difference of English study between China and France!

S1( from France): I feel like it’s not really different,it’s the same kind of study and we do the same things. Eh...I think every teacher is the same in France and China.

Anja: And what is the class like? Are there any games, presentations in your class? What are they like? Do you have foreign teachers like us?

S2( from France): yes, sometimes, we have to do some final tests, like we have to do some presentations.

Aaron:Thanks for your answers.Do you have some celebrations on festivals, like our foreign language festival? If there is holiday on school day, does your school do some special things?

Ss( from France): No, we don’t. But we often celebrate on Christmas and we do have some activities on this day.

Aaron: In every school, we have homework. So what’s different about homework in France? How is it different?

S3( from France): That’s really different in France. In China, you have a lot of homework , but in France we don’t work very much.So...

Aaron: so how much time do you spend doing homework?

S3( from France): Some people don’t do it at all.

S1( from France):Not really, we spend 10minutes a day. Haha...

Aaron: I spend almost 2 hours doing my homework everyday. Hahaha...

Dominic: I spend almost 3 hours.

Anja: so you have more free time than us. Do you learn English after school as a hobby or for fun?

Ss( from France): No.

Aaron: What do you do after class?

S2( from France): Swimming.

S3( from France): Every person has a different loving. We do different things.

Aaron: What are your hobbies?

S1( from France): Well, I play ping pong. Hahaha...

Dominic: So, you guys don’t have much time learning after class, then what good learning methods do you have in class? Share with us please.

S1( from France): I don’t have any good method because I’ve been learning English since I was young and it’s easier for me now.

Aaron: I think there are some connections between French and English and I remember there are some words that are kind of similar in French. So is there kind of connection or isn’t really.

S1( from France): Well, I think every school in France has English classes.

Dominic:Well, you guys have experienced our foreign languages festival and you have took part in it. Do you have this kind of after school activities?

S1( from France): No, we don’t. We don’t celebrate festival by this way.

Interview of group 2

Kevin: Good day, my friend. Today's interview is very special because we have our fantastic French friends here.

Thomas:And it’s our honor to have three of our French friends here and today’s topic is a little bit different. It’s about the difference between English study in China and France!

S4( from France): Em... I think it is very simple and it’s not the same system in France and in China because in France we don’t have a big test at the end of the semester but we have small tests during the whole semesters.

S5( from France): And there is a big exam after every big period.

Kevin: Okay so in France middle school, do you have the same exam with the same hard level as in China? Like that do you need to review the whole unit that you studied in this term before the test?

S6( from France): It’s not as same as in China as Cellien said so it’s not the same system we have a little exam I think one for a week so it’s not a big exam.

Kevin:So you will not review the whole part of the term you studied ?

S4( from France): But at the end of the unit we have a big test. But it’s easy not as hard as in China.

Kevin: So another question is that what is your opinion about English teaching in China and France?

S6( from France): I think it’s very different because you have so many English classes.

Kevin:I know that you have been study in China for a pretty long time so you learnt something right? You have been to many English classes right? So after you saw our brilliant English teacher what do you think about her? And compare her with your French English teacher.

S5( from France): I think she is a good teacher and the classes are very interesting!

Thomas: And tell me about English teaching in China so is it hard or....

S5( from France): You have to learn more English words and you have a large vocabulary which is not the same in France. But it is so hard because the teachers give many picture and examples so that the lessons are interesting.

Thomas: So this is the end of this interview and many thanks for you coming here and joining this interview with us. And hope you enjoy it. And thank you for your coming to China and give this talking to us. So that we can share our opinion about language study in different cultures.

Kevin: Fantastic and I am very glad to have this interview with you guys and I believe that we have already learned a lot between Chinese learning and English learning. And thank you for your joining us!

Ss( from France): Well, it is also our pleasure!
